Enhancing the lives of older people in South Lanarkshire since 1992
Hands on Project Handyperson Service
Our trained handyperson volunteers can assist older people by carrying out a range of small repair jobs to help them to remain safe in their home. Jobs include Changing lightbulbs, Changing curtains, Fitting curtain poles/rails, Flat packed furniture, Turning matresses, Cleaning inside windows and cupboards, Installing door bells...and much much more!
This is our latest project which utilises the skills of older people to bring back a 'make do and mend' culture by offering two swap shop boutiques where local people are encouraged to swap their old clothing form something more relvant. We also offer an intergenerational education programme which teaches local people how to mend and upcycle their clothing led by older people within our communities. LEAP was established in the Lightburn area of Cambuslang in 1992 and has gradually expanded across Cambuslang and Rutherglen offering a range of services that best meet the needs of older people in the community. If you would like to get involved either as a participant or volunteer then please contact us here.
Hands on Project Befriending Service
We are the leading befriending service for older people in South Lanarkshire having recently won the Quality in Befriending award. A trained volunteer will meet the client regularly in their home for companionship and reducing loneliness. We can help people become more active in their community by offering short or long term befriending matches depending on the circumstances and need.
