Tom ready to lead Avondale handyperson service

Time-served joiner and double glazing expert Tom

Robertson has joined LEAP as its Avondale

Handyperson Co-ordinator.

With more than 40 years work behind him, Tom (59)

brings a wealth of experience to the charity.

After completing his apprenticeship with Fleming

Joiners in Bothwell, Tom worked with the former

Hamilton District Council and local double glazing

firms before deciding on a career change.

Tom said: “In my time I’ve done a lot more than

joinery, as you used to get involved in a whole lot of

jobs from brickwork to roofing.

“I’m ready now to put something back into the local

community, and this job with LEAP allows me to do

just that.

“I’m looking forward to working with the various

communities and our volunteers in Avondale to help

older people in the area stay safe and secure in their

homes for as long as they are able.”
