Handy Person Co-ordinator – Strathaven

14 Months Fixed Term Contract (Dependant on Funding)
The Hands on Project (HOP), which is part of the LEAP Organisation, is a Charity which provides free practical assistance to people over the age of 50 who are experiencing difficulties due to their physical or mental health conditions.
The Handyperson Service, with the assistance of trained volunteers, helps older people, by carrying out a range of small repair jobs and tasks around the home to help them remain safe in their own home. We also offer a Befriending Service which matches volunteers with clients in their own home to provide companionship and a chat, helping older people to feel less lonely and isolated. The volunteers also assist individuals to become more active in their community by providing support to access local activities, therefore improving social connections, health and wellbeing.
We are looking to recruit a Handyperson Co-ordinator to assist with the delivery and co-ordination of an effective small jobs handyperson scheme. The handy person co-ordinator will form part of a team delivering effective front line practical support to older people around their home. The post holder will:
have excellent practical skills in basic carpentry, plumbing and electrics and be able to offer practical advice and guidance to volunteers if required;
be required to act on your own initiative;
possess a caring attitude towards clients;
have excellent communication skills;
have good organisational skills;
be responsible for the promotion of the project through events, displays and presentations; and
have a full, clean driving licence
