Late Christmas present for elderly charity

The Mount Vernon branch of Howdens – Britain’s number one trade kitchen supplier – has made LEAP the recipient of its Christmas spirit this year.

The branch makes an annual donation to a local charity and this year decide to support LEAP with a cheque for £500.

Presenting the cheque, branch manager Garry Fraser said: “We were wondering who to support this year when we read about LEAP and its work really stood out for us.

“There was no hesitation is supporting such a worthy cause and I’m sure the money will help the charity continue its great work.

Accepting the cheque, Kevin Key, LEAP’s handyperson co-ordinator said: “We really appreciate what Howdens has done. £500 is a fair old chunk of money and will be put to good use.

“We support more than 8,500 people between our befriending, handyperson, leisure and learning and clothing swap shop boutiques, so every donation helps us deliver those front-line services through our band of more than 200 volunteers.”
