LEAP is three times winner from Gulf Oomph customers

LEAP is celebrating its third £1,000 donation within a year from Gulf Cambuslang customers donating their fuel rewards to the charity.

Gulf awards its top ten charities £1,000 every quarter based on points donated by its Oomph loyalty scheme customers, and local drivers have made sure LEAP has been in the frame for three of the past four quarters!

In the past, LEAP has used the money to produce Christmas activity packs for the older people it supports, and to help fund its free handyperson service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This time, the charity is going to use the money to help support its befriending groups as they open up again following the easing of pandemic restrictions.

Heather Jackson, one of LEAP’s volunteer development officers, accepted the donation and said: ““This is amazing. To be given this amount of money three times is something we would never have thought possible. We can’t thank the Gulf Cambuslang staff and customers enough.

“The money will help us re-establish our friendship groups now that COVID restrictions are easing, and people can meet indoors.

“As well as helping pay volunteers’ expenses, it will allow us to buy things such as tea and biscuits or cake for the people in the groups.”

Gulf regional manager Jean Watkins added: “As grass roots organisations and local charities struggle for funding during the pandemic, Oomph, Gulf Retail’s award-winning forecourt loyalty platform has given out more than £40,000 to grass root organisations such as LEAP.

“Forging close and meaningful links with good local causes and grass root organisations is important, not just to Gulf, but also to our customers and we are delighted the money is being put to such good use.”
