Community Council gift will give friendship group a very merry Christmas

£500 donation from South Lanarkshire’s Renewable Energy Fund will pay for Christmas lunch for group and Devlin Grove residents

A £500 donation from Blantyre Community Council will make sure LEAP’s Devlin Grove friendship group – and other residents at the centre – have a Christmas dinner to remember.
The donation came after Ann Hartmann, who attends the Devlin Grove friendship group, and is a member of the Community Council, told Donna McPherson, LEAP’s Friendship Groups Co-ordinator, about the Council’s Renewable Energy Fund.
Donna approached the Community Council in TBC asking for support from their microgrant fund and it didn’t take long for the Council to respond.
Dr Susan Lindner-Kelly, from Blantyre Community Council, said: “We are delighted to provide LEAP with a microgrant thanks to South Lanarkshire’s Renewable Energy Fund.
“We are very much looking forward to hearing how this has benefited the people of Blantyre and wish LEAP well in their endeavours.”
Donna McPherson, LEAP’s friendship groups co-ordinator was delighted to hear the news and said: “The group members are already looking forward to a good Christmas dinner, and the money will also allow us to bring in some entertainment for them.
“We can’t thank Susan, and everyone else at the Community Council, for their help.
“And Ann will be there to see the result first-hand and let the other Council members know their donation has been put to good use.”
