Dementia services volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help launch our new Dementia
Services across East Kilbride. Would you be interested in any of
these roles?

Lunch club volunteering - this group is a two-hour session for
people living with dementia and their carers. It begins with lunch
then the carers will separate into their own space for an information
or wellbeing session and the dementia group stay in the main area
for activities. You will help by making and serving lunch to the
members; leading or assisting members with the activities;
socialising with our members; and setting up and clearing away.

Coffee morning volunteering  - monthly coffee morning offering
carers and people living with dementia or memory loss the chance
to socialise and share experiences over a cuppa.  You will help
members with tea and coffee; support members with the activities;
socialise with our members and set up and clear away.

Music group volunteering - this is a fun-filled hour comprising of
chair exercises to music, a musical activity and a cool down
session. You will assist the group leader in activities, chat to group
members and make them feel welcome and undertake admin tasks
such as taking register and handing out paperwork.

Dementia Befriending – a new pilot service opening up towards
the end of 2024. Our befriending volunteers offer social contact,
and help people living with dementia to combat loneliness and
isolation.

Volunteer Drivers

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer driver? Do you enjoy
driving and helping others? Do you own your own car? We have
an exciting new opportunity for drivers to take guests to our
friendship groups in Hamilton, East Kilbride, Uddingston,
Cambuslang and Rutherglen.

Most of our groups run on a fortnightly basis (a couple are weekly)
and last for one and a half hours. Transport would need to be
provided both ways. The drivers are invited to stay at the group for
a cuppa or simply return at the end of the session. Travel
expenses would be r
eimbursed and training is provided. There
would be no expectation of manual handling or personal care but
walking aids etc would required to be lifted into the car.
