Handyperson service

For many older people, simple jobs such as changing a light bulb, configuring a remote control or DIY can become a barrier to them feeling safe living at home.

That is where our Hands On Project handyperson services can make a difference.

We are continuing to help where we can, especially for emergency work. Check our Coronavirus update page for details.

We have a team of handyperson volunteers in all of our locations who have gone through our training and who can support older people in their homes by carrying out a range of tasks including:

  • changing light bulbs;

  • changing curtains;

  • fitting curtain rails or shelves;

  • cleaning insides of windows;

  • building small flat pack furniture;

  • turning mattresses;

  • replacing batteries;

  • changing timers; and

  • doing small DIY tasks.

We can also fit keysafes and look at bigger jobs to help people find trustworthy tradespersons.

If you could do with some help, know someone who might need it, or have a few hours to spare and want to become a volunteer handyperson, call 0141 641 5169 or email
