Remarkable R:evolvers smash fundraising target for Macmillan

Two amazing ladies from R:evolve Recycle

have raised more than £1,600 (and rising) by

walking the West Highland Way in just

four days.

Taylor McKeown and Wendy Russell set off on

Friday 10 May to cover almost a marathon

distance every day to reach the finish line in

Fort William on 13 May.

The duo were part of a group of more than 30

walkers and support crew from Team McKeown

(including LEAP’s Moira Pettigrew and Stuart

McGregor) tackling Scotland’s favourite

long-distance walk to raise funds for the cancer

support charity.

Taylor said: “Completing the West Highland Way in

four days is one of the most challenging things I've put

myself through both mentally and physically.

“Walking for around 10 hours each day was very tough

with early morning wake up calls and being exhausted

by the time you'd walked over 20 miles to the next                             END OF THE WAY... Wendy and Taylor reach Fort William

youth hostel.

“I was motivated predominately by the reminder that I was raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support but also by the amazing encouragement from the support team and camaraderie of the group.

“I am so happy that I have completed the challenge and to have done it for such an amazing charity made every blister and achy muscle more than worth it.”

Wendy added: “It was an amazing four days and I’m just so happy to have completed the course and raised so much for Macmillan.”

Team McKeown, set up by Taylor’s parents Des and Carolyn McKeown more than 15 years ago, have now raised more than £1,000,000 for Macmillan and the LEAP family is proud to be part of that incredible team.
