Local elderly charity LEAP welcomed people to its first post-pandemic AGM in Cambuslang Parish Church on 12 September.

More than 100 people attended the event – the charity’s first large-scale public event since 2019 – to hear how the charity had fared since restrictions had started to lift.

​

The charity also celebrated 30 years of supporting older people in South Lanarkshire, a remarkable achievement which had included seeing it being award the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2010, the equivalent of an honour given to organisations.

​

At the event, the charity also awarded Marion Reid and Caroline Fraser joint winners of their Betty Lees Volunteer of the Year trophy for the contributions over many years.

The charity’s R:evolve Recycle team also recognised volunteers Lorna Campbell, Helen Chambers and Bernie Green for their efforts in 2022, and presented Isabel Banks, the charity’s secretary with a bouquet to mark her 30 years’ service to LEAP.

LEAP was also given its third Investing in Volunteers Award by Katy Penamn from Volunteer Scotland before entertainment on the day was provided by well-known DJ Dave Marshall, whose “Yesterday Once More” presentation was well received.
